A DEDICATED BUNCH

"There's nothing better than being immersed in books alongside folks that also love being immersed in books." --Melanie Botts

about the friendly bookstore

The Friendly Bookstore is an all-volunteer non-profit operated by the Friends of the Rogers Public Library.

The store first opened in 1984 when there were books left over from a sale. The 1114 W. Poplar Place site is the fourth location of the store. The store was initially located at 200 W. Poplar St., before moving down the street to 206 S. Second St, then to 401 N. Second St., each time to a larger building reflecting the support the community gives the store.

The store is stocked with donations from individuals and the library. Over the years, the store had added games, puzzles, CDs, DVDs, VHS, and greeting cards to the merchandise offered at bargain prices.

Proceeds from bookstore sales include support for the library’s:

  • Lunch and Learn Programs

  • Technology additions

  • Staff Development

  • Summer Reading Club

  • Student eCards – Cards are given, free of charge, to all students in the Rogers School District. These cards allow access to the library’s online resources, including databases and downloadable or streaming resources.

The bookstore, on a case-by-case basis, has provided books to local organizations working in the area of literacy, and to libraries and schools which have been devastated by natural disasters.
