THE FRIENDS
GET THINGS DONE.

Did you know if it weren’t for the Friends of the Rogers Public Library, there might not be a library in its current location? That’s because in order to buy the land at 711 S. Dixieland Road, a mortgage was needed on the balance of the purchase price. The city couldn't legally carry a mortgage, so the Friends stepped and did so, deeding the land to the city

when it was paid off.

The little organization that could and does!

Established in 1964 by Eli Leflar, the Friends were inactive between 1970 and 1984 when it was reactivated and began providing financial support to the library.

Today, the Friends are approaching the $1 million mark in money granted to the library. Funds pay for:

  • Summer reading program

  • eCards for students in the Rogers School District

  • Services such as tutor.com

  • Staff development

  • Computers for use by the public

Many Friends members are active volunteers at The Friendly Bookstore, but that is not a requirement.

Join us, and see how rewarding being a Friend can be!
